I was putting Natalie to sleep tonight.
After she had fallen asleep for about 5 minutes, I was just about to leave her room. She said, "媽咪﹐我瞓唔著呀!"
I was thinking, "Huh? Aren't you sleeping right now?" I stared at her for a few seconds. She had her eyes closed. She's still sleeping.
Then, I thought it's quite amusing, 明明瞓緊但發開口夢,話瞓唔著. :)

Kin was 很感動

A few weeks ago, Kin told me that Natalie said something to me and he was really touched. When he said that, Natalie was around, so he said he would tell me later about it.
Then, after Natalie had gone to bed, I asked him what it was in our room.
He went,
"Natalie just said it all of a sudden: 'Daddy, if you die one day, part of you will always live in my heart.' I was almost tearful when I heard it. I wonder where she learned this from."

老人家了?

We went to K&I birthday party on Monday. All the kids were going for a bike ride. I went with Natalie, too. I predicted that Natalie would probably not willing to paddle all the way, therefore I was wearing my roller-blades so that it's easier to push her from behind. I thought I was smart, ha.
After going 1/4 of the trail, Natalie already did not want to paddle. So, I pushed her from behind. But, she didn't like it! I guess she felt it was a little scary. She'd rather get off the bike to walk. But the worst part was, she wanted to drink juice. I brought a water bottle for her, she didn't want to drink water. She kept asking for juice. Sigh ... finally, I gave in. I told her to walk with Auntie Stella, I would push the bike to Louisa's and got some juice back to the trail for her. Then, this tough journey started. I had to bend down to push the bike and I was trying to go as fast as I could, just in case Natalie would give a hard time to Auntie Stella. When I was only one block away from Louisa's, I got pretty tired and the bike suddenly lost control. I was trying to catch the bike so that it would not hit someone's car that's parked on the street. Then, I lost my balance and fell pretty badly. My lower back hurt so much that I had to sit down and rested about one minute before I could continue roller-blading again.
Sigh ... I guess I am a 老人家了, roller-blading at a high speed and pushing a bike at the same time is just not a good idea.
Of course, what happened later was, I still got like 10 packs (for other kids, too) of juice in a bag and roller-blading back to the trail. Kin was very considerate that he also walked to the trail to take care of Natalie.

Safety

Natalie's school is teaching safety recently. I received an email from her Header teacher about it:
"This month we are learning about safety. I couldn't think of a more important topic than what it takes to keep the little ones safe. I think it is of utmost importance for the children to know their address and at least one phone number in case they become lost or in an emergency. "

So, a few days ago, I was trying to teach Natalie to learn our home phone number. At first, I was telling her that in order to call someone using the phone, she needed to know which numbers to press on the phone in order to make the call. Then, I told her that when she's not home and if she wanted to call us at home, she could call the numbers: 650-xxx-xxxx (friends, you all know my home phone number, so I am not publishing here). I asked her:
"Can you please repeat the numbers to me?"
She paused a couple seconds.
Then, she said,
"媽咪﹐不如等我大個先學啦。"

Last Christmas ...

"Last Christmas, I gave you my heart, but the very next day, you gave it away..."
No ... I am just trying to blog what happened in December 2009.

• We took Natalie to watch Nutcracker in San Francisco, performed by San Francisco Ballet. Nutcracker is a story that Natalie fell in love with after we read her the book. This was her first time watching a ballet performance. She behaved better than I expected. She could sit still for the 1st half, then she kept asking to leave during the 2nd half. After she watched the ballet, she loved the story AND being a ballerina even more.
• So, we took her to watch Nutcracker again. But this time it's with Peninsula Ballet. We watched it in San Mateo. We are thinking about taking Natalie to watch "Sleeping Beauty's Wedding" this coming March. Also performed by Peninsula Ballet.
• Had a fun X'mas party in Lisa's house. It was great. Natalie was not afraid of Santa anymore. Last year, when Santa came up, I had to hide with her upstairs. This time, she could sit on Santa's lap. What a big difference!
• We went to Vancouver near end of December. We sledding at Mount Seymour. But Natalie did not like snow splashing on her face while sledding. So we left after 2 runs. Fortunately, Mt. Seymour was only 45 mins drive from my parents home. We could easily drove back to have lunch and let Natalie take a nap. On the other hand, Natalie really enjoyed my parents company, and she loved hanging out with my brother and sister. On the day we went back to the Bay Area, Natalie was crying and she said she wanted to stay longer... :(

November 2009

Time flies.
I have not blogged for months.
I tried restarting last week, but I was too lazy. I ended up with a 3 liner post.
I am trying to think back what I did in the past few months.
Let's start from November 2009.

• Natalie had a performance on stage with Small Fry's Dance Club. Since then, Natalie fell in love with performing on a stage and she kept asking when she could do it again. The next performance will be in June. We have told her that, and she's looking forward to it.
• Natalie's 3rd birthday party was held in BounceU. She was excited that she could have a birthday party. She wanted to invite many of her friends from CCLC. But since most guests that we invited were Cantonese speaking, so I told Natalie that I could not invite her non-Cantonese speaking friends from school. I did not want them to feel being left out. But I think I should do better this year. I'll need to arrange something that would allow everyone to have fun.
• On Thanksgiving Day, we put up the Christmas tree together. It was fun.
• We took Natalie to Gilroy Garden. It was her first visit there. She had a great time. She enjoyed every ride there. She even wanted to get on the Pirate Boat and roller coaster, but she's too young for those. When the weather gets better, I will definitely take her there again.
